Witches of Oz---The 'Good'

Just wanted to post something, so I strung together some sketches from my 'Harry Potter and the Witches of Oz' project.

These are the ' good ' witches of Oz in the story, though only two are officially given the ' good ' title. From left to right, we have Glinda the Good Witch of the North, Elphaba the Enigmatic Witch of the West, and Tattypoo the (semi-retired) Good Witch of the North.

Glinda and Elphaba are (probably not unexpectedly) based on their respective portrayals from the musical 'Wicked', though their histories have divergences featuring facts from the book and my own embellishments for the sake of HPatWoOz. Glinda, like in the book, has married and been widowed by Sir Chufferey, and Elphaba, like in the book, had an affair with the married Fiyero which ultimately resulted in his assassination. There are other similarities and differences, but since I have a ton of sketches I'll save more specifics for fact sheets and (possibly) posting the story.

Tattypoo, familiarly called Tatts, I took a bit more liberty with, since she doesn't even have a name until late in the series of original Oz books, and at her first appearance is portrayed as your typical kindly old lady who happens to be a witch. I myself prefer the atypical characterizations, and I wrote Tatts as a Dolly Parton-esque, almost-always-in-a-good-mood personality determined to keep people guessing as to her actual age. She gets along very well with and personally chose Glinda to succeed her as Good Witch of the North, and while she and Elphaba get along well in a business/diplomatic sense, Tatts otherwise tends to grate on Elphaba's nerves. Old war injuries have forced Tatts' semi-retirement---she didn't want to retire, but realized the nature of her injuries prevented her from keeping the pace required of the Good Witch position. That said, she remains as active as she can.
